A very long-distance shot at Mena, this was a 727-228/Adv N191RD. At the time I thought she looked vaguely familiar however was only when we arrived back home in the UK I realised that she was the former Ariana Afghan Airlines YA-FAX. Now, that *is* a rare bird! Several websites list her as currently for sale.

Index | NextThis was a telephoto shot across the runway at Mena and shows the former Delta Airlines Boeing 727-232/Adv N543DA minus her engines. I did not identify the white 727 behind her, thought that she might have been a former USAF C-22 however I cannot find any photos of these with that small 'stars and stripes' on the vertical tail fin. I think that the 737 to the left is ZS-SID which makes her a former South African Airways 737-244/Adv, then South African Airways Cargo.
