George AFB - Gate Guards
10th May 2007

George AFB was proud of its history and heritage and this was made quite clear by several aircraft that were publicly on display within the base wearing a variety of colour schemes - some accurate, some perhaps not quite so!

The following photographs were very kindly contributed by Ian Powell, a respected British aviation enthusiast, who visited the base prior to 1993. They are also interesting to compare with some of the photos that I took in 2002 because they show just how the site has changed from being a green oasis in the desert to a dry parched industrial site.

All photos copyright Ian Powell.
